When her peers were listening to the “hit” of the moment, Robin Filippone had a unique infatuation for the old standards. She would listen to ten different variations and interpretations of one single song until she would wear it out only to move on to the next! She identified with the simplicity yet immeasurable depth and honesty that is absent in so much of today’s music. Robin was particularly interested in a group of singers that fell into a category which was considered pop music in the 50s but whose repertoire consisted of jazz standards. Such artists with whom Robin identifies are Connie Francis, Julie London, Peggy Lee, Rosemary Clooney, and Judy Garland.
